Freedom of speech

The Constitutional Court of Spain has ruled that the Air Force violated the free speech rights of a lieutenant who was a member of the United Association of Spanish Soldiers when he was given a month and three days' detention for having sent an email claiming that a female comrade's work as a women's delegate was complicating life. According to this report (in Spanish) on the court's decision, the communication was merely an expression of personal opinion not subject to factual verification, and did not employ insulting language. The prosecution supported the lieutenant's appeal.
